For me, it would be a dream come true—to rid my office of proprietary software. Oh, the freedom I would have! Alas, I am not there yet. But one lawyer is Seattle is living my dream: he runs his entire office on free and open source software! What's more he has been doing it since 2004. |

I previously reviewed the Business Edition Linux workstation (BEL). As promised in that review, I present to you this review of the Server version of BEL. Before you read this review, be sure to read part one--it gives some background information about Linuxdistros and PCLinuxOS. BEL SBK (server-basic KDE) is a fully functioning LAMP (Linux Apache MySQL PHP) server. Everything is pre-installed so everything works out of the box. I installed and tested BEL Server Basic KDE on a DELL Dimensions with a 2GHz Pentium 4 and 512M of RAM. |

Open Source for Lawyers Has a New Look |

I decided to change the look of my site because . . . well, because I like the new look better. For those who don't know, I built this site using joomla CMS. Joomla is a powerful and flexible content management system. Changing the look is as easy as installing a new template. There are tons of free templates available; this new one comes from joomlashack . |
