I have heard from several sources that if you want to wipe your hard drive securely you will need to overwrite the data may times--some suggest up to 35 times. New research shows that this may not be the case. SecurityFocus reports that it takes but a single pass to effectively protect your data. |

Recently, the blogging platform JournalSpace caused a stir when it lost all of its data and had no backups, causing the website to shut down forever. Since this happened, many a blog has touted this story to illustrate the importance of backing up. I agree that backups are crucial. But there is a more important lesson to be learned here. |

Too many people are being trapped by the "Apple trend." And by "trap" I mean bait-and-lock. They lure consumers with promises of candy, only to put handcuffs on them so they can't get out. Sound familiar? Yeah. Microsoft does the same thing. So does Adobe. I came across this little treasure and just had to share it. It explains why Apple is evil in terms everyone can understand. |
